Academy History
Welcome to Alla Breve Academy professional music and art school for the community. The Alla Breve Academy was founded in 1995 with 15 students and a faculty of 2 with the first school emerging in North York, then later in Markham and Maple and now has over 700 students and a faculty of over 20 offering classes and programs in a variety of musical instruments and art classes.
We welcome students of all ages and levels, whether they are absolute beginners or advanced. Many ABMA students take lessons simply for the joy but others are seriously dedicated who are studying full-time and working toward music and art careers in their lives.

Art Classes
Art is the process or product of deliberately arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, sculpture, and paintings. The meaning of art is explored in a branch of philosophy known as aesthetics.
Alla Breve academy is focused on the colloquial term for education with a primary focus on the visual arts, illustration, painting, and sculpture. Introducing art to children has a number of benefits ranging from improving creativity to increasing self-confidence. Art will help develop a child’s creativity, imagination, cognitive skills, and much more. Children who regularly participate in a comprehensive art program are four times more likely to be in a math or science fair, and four times more likely to win an award for writing, according to research published by Canadians for the Arts.

Classes at Alla Breve Academy are structured with detailed instructions and guidance on creating realistic images and subjects. Younger children are taught step by step so that the drawing process is not overwhelming. Older students are given projects with detailed lessons on the drawing, medium use and techniques.
With discipline and dedication, our students learn that creating a masterpiece cannot be rushed and quality artwork takes time and patience. Our end results speak for themselves!
Alla Breve Academy offers a wide variety of different classes to accommodate everyone’s busy schedules. Most students will attend one or more of our art programs according to their age. Before registering for a class, please come in for absolutely free no obligation trial class to ensure your child is placed in the appropriate class. Our art programs include painting acrylic & watercolor, pen & pencil technique, oil & chalk pastel and much more!
Designed for beginners or intermediate adult students who would like to brush up on basics. Learn how to choose the right materials, as well as the basics of color theory and composition to create a painting.
Our talented art teachers will help you awaken your artist talent. We will provide everything you need to create your masterpiece, including canvas, paint, brushes, etc. Take the Alla Breve Academy experience in the comfort of your own home or studio. After it’s done, decorate with a new masterpiece your home and share it with your spouse, children, relatives and friends!
